TYPE&THEATER: OUTSIDE, BESIDE, INSIDE
MA Type Design thesis
Book; 160mm x 230mm, 158 pages
In an attempt to search for traces of typography in the theater scene, this thesis takes a microscopic view on some case studies. By doing so, it introduces interesting examples that show various levels of integration of typography in theater, where it exists and how it achieves different purposes. From Moulin Rouge's signage to Canadian Opera Company's surtitles to Guy de Cointet's typographic props to contemporary designers' collaborative projects, it zooms into a few stories throughout history in order to spotlight the positions that typography has been taking in (and also out of) the stage.
